I changed my fan blade and the fan clutch and it was a piece of cake job. But what I am wondering is what is the life expectancy of these plastic fans? The one I removed was stampted 9-99 and really that isn't that long really.

On my old 92 LX I think I swapped mine out ~40K.... Had hairline cracks in the hub area. Not long after warranty expired.

They seem like they get cracks in the in the center part of the fan near the fan clutch. Ive seen many of them with cracks that were opened up wide enough to stick a key in. Ive never seen one that actually failed. I always replace them when I see a crack just to be on the safe side. Theyre cheap enough. :thumbsup2:

My first fox and I am in the learning stages and I am of the opinion that if I see a crack(s) then R&R because all it takes is one time of if fragging to pieces at highway speeds and it now becomes more than I originally bargined for.

I discovered mine while in there doing the P/S pump. Just happened to look in and saw the cracks... I put a Flex fan on it for a little while as the damn originals were a bit pricey when it happened, and I was out of work at the time... Then a buddy got a car to part out with a new one on it, still had the replacement part sticker.
