As the onion gets peeled back we find that it is us who are to blame. I used
"us" because our generations right now are the damn problem. We've forgotten to lead by example and I mean leading with positive results. I am of the opinion that social media needs boundaries. Children need more supervision and do many of the adults these days. I have a two year old grand daughter who knows what the computer is and the cell phone and clearrly understands that those items are a focus for distraction. 2 years old and she gets it, doesn't know all the details just enough to get into trouble so to speak.
I never purchased a phone for my step-daughter and when my wife and finally decided to go that way we had the text portion turned off. You need me? you call me or leave me alone! I am simple that way. I text sometimes and it has a specific purpose.
Our children need to be busy with studies, sports, and or some form of physical labor so they will learn that if you are tired you'll be more apted to sleep and less opportunities to get into trouble. I have said I lived under an iron curtain and I got into all kinds of stuff even when I worked 6 days a week, went to school and had chores and so it ain't picture perfect but I learned if you work then you earn.
Many would disagree with my rant on rules and control because it violates individual freedoms. I am of the strong opinion that until you are a tax payer freedoms are just a word and now you have earned more freedoms since you are part of the solution instead of the problem. I believe we've gone so far over that we'll never find a middle in our society and maybe I am too old to understand things like our youth does?
