This thing looks like a new car! I don't think I would have the drive it take to undertake a project like that. Two thumbs for the attention to detail. I hope I get a chance to see it some day.

Finished the exhaust this morning and cut the tail pipes at about 2.5” as any longer maybe correct but just look out of place.

Image

We tack-welded the down pipes in place then remove the X pipe to finish the welds

The Pypes system fits awesome and has great clearance everywhere! I’m sure the movie car was 2” pipe but the 2.5” look cool!
Thanks!

Would love to see this ride at one of our shows when it's all finished!

This car would earn a spot on the showroom floor at both the Century Ford Show in June and the Bob Davidson Car Show in September! And why not, it is a brand new car!!! :banana2:

Today we painted the wheels a charcoal gray so they would look more like the original Torque Thrust. After trying a few other colors we decided on Eastwood’s Zinc Phosphate as it look like the original wheels and it is a nice satin finish.

We think they look a lot better then the light grey.
Thanks!

Looks like your son is getting a first rate mechanical, upholstery, body and paint and overall craftsman education right at home! :btu:

If he decides to go to Wyotech or Universal Training School to become a ASC mechanic or tradesman he could help teach the course!

Well when this restoration is done maybe he'll cook up another one. WaWa. I know, but I had to post it anyway. Bad humor. I like the black wheels. It blends it all together.

It has been busy for the past few weeks with Kurt getting his Black belt, work and the upcoming holidays. But we did find a few hours here and there to work on the interior. We installed the column and the steering wheel I leather wrapped two years ago as a Christmas present.

We installed most of the rear interior panels today and the new trap door all of which needed a lot of adjustment to fit, not sure how they quickly did this on the assembly line back in the day?

Little by little we are getting there. We are still looking for a trap door prop rod bracket new or use but I’m not sure anyone make a repro. Could use a picture of one as we may need to make are own.
Thanks!
Pat

We finished polishing the S/S door glass trim, clean and painted the lower glass track guides, and installed the new glass.

Image

With all the parts cleaned & polished we installed the bottom track guide 1st. Apparently there are two different glass channel seal as the lower channel is a little thicker but I was only able to fine the upper S/S glass channel seal from NPD. We pinched the bottom track in about 1/32” and use the upper glass channel seal with no problem.

With a little foam glass cleaner and a rubber mallet the S/S & lower track guide fit great to the new glass.

Here are a few before and after pictures, love the green glass!
Thanks

We installed the shifter and boot and made our own lower shifter boot cover to help with heat and noises

Image

We use a piece of 1/8” thick rubber and 1/8” foam to make the lower boot cover. Cutting the hole about 3/16” larger then the rubber boot on the transmission allow the shifter to move with out binding.

The pre-fitted carpet is next.
Thanks!

Putting in the floor shifter brought back some fond memories for me. In college I had a 59' Chevy Biscayne that had a three speed on the column shifter. One of my college buddies helped me relocate it to the floor which made the car a lot more fun to drive.

It's starting to really come together now and look like a car.

Where did you find the chrome for the windows. My stepson needs new ones for his 67 Stang.
