If you are looking for Ford Parts, I found a site that may help. I was looking for an original thermostat for my 71 Boss 351. Someone on the Boss site recommenf me to check with my local Ford Dealers. None of them had it, but one said that they had a supplier in Texas that could get it. It would be $8.62 plus at least $10 for shipping. I told them I would call them back.
When I was googling the number to one of our Ford dealers, I found a link to
http://www.fordparts.com. If you have not used the site, you can put in the part number and if it is available it will return a result with the cost. You then pick a Ford dealer to purchase it from and whether you want to have a nationwide referral. The interesting part of this is that if the dealer you named does not respond in 30 minutes and you checked natonwide referral, any Ford dealer in the country can process the order if they have the part at no additoinal cost to you. I ordered 2 thermostats coming FEDX overnight for $8.62 each plus tax, $9.95 total for overnight shipping, and $1.99 handling. I gotthe shipment today and was pleased. It was the original thermostat in the Motorcraft box. It came from Valley Ford in Michigan. I even got a follow-up call because I ordered two and they only had one (the part is doscontinued). They let me know that they had one and they would refund my money for the second. I will definitely use this site the next time I need a part to see if there are any Ford Dealers out there that still have some original stock.
Not sure if anyone knew about this site and it may help you later on. The only bad thing about the site is you can put in your VIN number, but it only recognizes the newer 17 digit VIN, so if you have an older Mustang you will not be able to store the VIN on the site as a cross reference.
Thanks...
