OK, so this was my first MCA show, I will say that the show was run well on the field, plenty of volunteers, everything seemed to go really well. Would have liked a little more communication from the host club preshow, ie how, where to showup, what to bring, etc.

Lots of great looking mustangs.

One question on Judging...I was told by my judges that they were not assigning points in the modified class, in fact nobody ever even picked up the mod list that I had on the dash. I meet the pair of judges that looked over my car for about 5 min tops, both very nice, one of them did point out a few areas that were dirty and gave some very good tips for fixing them. But the primary reason I went to this show was to get the experience of a judged show, have someone review modifications done and complexity, and just get some idea of how my car did. I will be sending in for the judges report which they said would only have their comments.

Did anyone else in the modified class have similar interaction, or did I just completely misunderstand their comments and how judging was done in the modified class?

From reading some posts on FaceBook's MCA page I think a lot of people misunderstood the judging and weren't happy with the results. I was watching the judges when they were at one of two white with silver stripes Shelby's (they were parked near each other). One of the judges ran his hand over one of the tailpipes and looked at his hand which had some black road dirt on it and he went "NOPE." The female judge with him tried to argue him down but he was sticking to his guns. The judges were definitely too strict with Adam's Roush for it being an occasional daily driven car. For the DDO's it was like the judges expected them to be rolled in off a trailer. They found some specs of dirt on his air filter housing, stuff like that should be allowed if it's driven. One guy because his floormats weren't factory equipment they weren't supposed to be in the car. And after talking to people at the hotel from Florida who take their Shelby all over the country in a trailer, they said the judges don't care about anything except how clean the car is inside and out. So there's a good possibility they didn't give your mods a look-over at all. I had a yellow S197 next to me and after watching him go through boxes of q-tips Saturday morning then watching the people who would clean their cars with quick detailer 5 times over until the judges came to them, it was obvious the judges really did only care about cleanliness. When the couple from Florida came back to the hotel that night they asked me: "We were right about it being spotless in every crevice possible?" Oh they definitely were!!!

Cleanliness is what they are judging in a MCA show. Door hinges, tailpipes, wheel wells, undercarriage ...etc etc. It is not a personal choice per vehicle based on mods or what a judge likes or dislikes...it's how clean you keep it. Whether it's daily driven or not. These shows are fun and exciting for those who love to check out Mustangs and hang out with other enthusiasts...that's why I go to shows, who cares about a trophy?

John, according to MCA's most current rulebook Modified class is supposed to be judged on number/dificulty/quality of work for the mods and well as the basic cleanliness/condition/workmanship. I had a guy next to me with a car in the mod. class and he said he got basically te same treatement you did. He said he asked as was told something to the effect that they were forgoing the normal mod judging and just doing the CCW run due to time and numbers constraints. I can't guarantee the accuracy of exactly what was said as I am several people removed from it, but the general idea it would seem is that you were not alone. I finally got my judging sheet back in the mail, I did get picked apat on a few "Q-tip" areas in the engine that I managed to get the judges to point out before the left, but they were indeed dirty. I really only had 1 questionable area, but from the comments I can't figure out exactly what they were saying they saw. Overall, it's still fun to do the national shows in my opinion, even if it can be somewhat masochistic at times.
