Working on this Van project reminded me of the TV Show "Extreme Makeovers" where a group of professionals and volunteers completely rebuild a house for a deserving family to enrich their lives going forward.
Arriving at Bob's garage shortly after 8:00 am I had the opportunity to view the wonderful job done by Bill's Body Shop in applying the vinyl graphics to the sides of the van. This van will definitely stand out from the crowd.
Aside from taking a lot of photos and eventually writing an article for the Mustang Club of America's monthly magazine, I volunteered to help out with the detailing of the van. This gave me an opportunity to try out my new Griot's Garage professional polisher on a land yacht.
While the van was mostly clean, Scott Robinson and I used Simple Green wet wipes to go over the van in preparation for the polish and sealant. I used Griot's One Step Polish & Sealant to deep clean the paint, take out the discolored yellowed areas and bring back a like new finish to the van and chrome bumpers. My "helper" Heather followed up with a micro fiber towel to buff out the finish.
Later on a couple of volunteers from the All American Mustang Club hand polished the wheels and applied tire gel to the tires for a finished look.
All the while we were doing this the guys and gals were tearing out the interior of the van to install new audio & video equipment, replace the worn out carpeting and add sound deadener to the van. Merci did her magic on the window tint and sound deadening to the interior panels.
There was plenty of food and drink for everyone and it was like a big party where everyone pitched in to make this all come together.
Nate's wife Diana brought Emily to the event and was extremely grateful for all of our work in helping Emily to be able to travel in greater comfort and safety.
This was hands down the best project I have ever worked on or been associated with by any organization I have been involved in ever.
Everyone who was fortunate enough to participate in this event deserves a big Thank You for braving the cold, wet, icy roads and showing their commitment to this wonderful project.
I took quite a few pictures during the day and I know that Scott Robinson also took a great many photos as well.
I will post some of the photos I took and hopefully others who took pictures can add to this post too.
Since I can only post 3 pics at a time this will go on for quite a few pages.
