Dan that is such I know how people drive through that intersection they are always cutting people off turning left! That is what happened to me. Interesting. My 2001 has this evidently. I'll have to find out exactly what it records. |

I know my 06 has one. It records I think 30 prior to the accident, how fast, if the brakes were applied, seat belt, the direction of the steering wheel and a couple of other things. Hope this helps. Stupid question but maybe online in an owners manual to figure out if the car is equipped with one. Good luck. |

Event Data Recorders are built into the RCM (Restraints Control Module = airbag module) in most Ford Vehicles as of 1996. The Mustang gained an EDR in 1999. It requires special software and cable to connect it to a laptop or Crash Data Retrival tool (used by the insurance industry). The data is admissible as evidence in a court case, since it accepted as being fairly secure and accurate. |

Thanks everyone. i called Ford on Friday and there is no black box in my 98 , and to tell how hard it was hit would cost a couple thousad of dollars to check the car out on impact. well we tried, |
