hi everyone. my latest pony is the 89 LX 5.0. I had been looking for an 87-92 5.0 (forged internals) and a notch. of all things, I found it about about 15 mins from where I grew up in n.j. last july. my dad gave it the once over and I took the train up and had a 3 hr test drive home. the P.O. started reconditioning it (paint, front end work, wheels/tires, shocks/struts, stereo) and I've kept it going since I got back. I attached a list for those of us into that minutia...lol. I've done everything but the thermostat and water pump. I knew I would break 24 year old brittle bolts and the dealer did...lol. even after warming them up. no one could have avoided that. the last few "gotta do" things are valve cover gaskets, rear brake hose and gears. got the pieces just gotta make more time. no plans for a h/c/i swap for now. 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 Maintenance From 7/20/2013 Mechanicals • Air filter • Oil & filter (3) • Fuel filter (2) • PCV valve & breather • Royal Purple Differential fluid change • Royal Purple Transmission fluid change • MSD Coil • Motorcraft Spark Plugs • Summit Racing Distributor Cap, Rotor & Spark Plug Wires • Anti-Freeze (3) • Charged A/C (A/C Pro) • Replaced OEM Distributor Boot • Replaced CAI with OEM air box • Accessory belt (Goodyear Poly V) • Changed Brake Pads (AXCD199) • Changed Brake fluid • Changed Power steering fluid (2) • Changed to Summit Racing aluminum driveshaft • Changed headlight bulbs • Changed Coolant Hoses (6, Goodyear Hi-Miler) • Added Flowmaster “American Thunder” exhaust (817574). • Added SMR 2 point K-member brace • Changed rear upper & lower control arms (Summit Racing) and replaced coil spring isolators (Energy Suspension Polyurethane) • Changed Thermostat (Failsafe) • Changed Alternator • Changed Belt Tensioner • Changed Ignition Key Cylinder • Added Steeda Strut Tower Brace (555-5708) • Changed Starter solenoid relay • Changed front anti-sway bar bushings to poly-urethane type (Prothane). • Changed Water Pump • Changed positive and negative battery cables • Changed rear brake drums • Changed front brake hoses Interior and Exterior • Painted L. i know....lol. a good reason for a 60" monitor. there needs to be a pixel/file size limit like with the avatar. |

Was it just me, or was anyone else concerned about opening the pictures from a logon called "fullmonte60"? I was not sure what I was going to see. |

i saw the pic...nice. i like the new bright green too. a little more pop than the old grabber green. i love the classic colors. i had an '07 grabber orange that's in CA with my oldest son. fits in better out there...lol. i love 'stangs with gold but they only let us have gold every 10 years or so. |
