I know this is going to be a sore subject to some of the members here on the forums. But I am going to ask anyways..... My brother just bought a 93 GT.... He doesnt want to race the car, he just wants it to look a certain way... He wants to cut his stock springs for the lowered look.. I have told him not to cut his springs due to the fact that the ride quality might change.... All he wants to do is just cruise in it... It all about the looks... Thats all he is going for. So the question that i am asking for him is??? How many coils should he cut on the front end to lower the car about a 1.5 inches? And how many coils off the rear for the same effect in the front? At least he is taking my advice on replacing the shocks and struts... |

I would say cut em. The ride will be rougher because theres less spring for the weight. That all lowering springs are shorter springs but have higher spring rate. As long as you don't cut too much it should be fine. Also check around for deals if money is an issue. I got a set of Eibach pro springs used for $100. I wasn't gonna pay $250 for springs. The less you pay for parts, the more parts you can buy. |
