MD emissions inspection for all vehicles 1996 and newer is as follows;
inspect under car w/ mirror for catalytic converter(s)
verify VIN
record mileage
retrieve Diagnostic Data from on-board computer
if no DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) are present, and all monitors have completed, the car passes.
Basically, if you're Check Engine lamp is NOT on, and you have not extensively modified your exhaust (removed cats), then you should be just fine. Most CAI and cat-back kits don't affect emissions negatively.
