This recession has hit every facet of our economy and one of the hardest hit was the publishing industry.
With advertising dollars harder to come by and the costs of publishing and distributing magazines, especially specialty interest magazines, it is not really a big surprise that some of our Mustang oriented magazines would be affected as well.
Today I received a new magazine from Amos Publishing, the publishers of Mustang Enthusiast. The letter that accompanied my new magazine was sent by Larry Jewett, the editor of Mustang Enthusiast.
It states:
"As of October 1, 2010, Cars & Parts, Corvette Enthusiast, Musclecar Enthusiast, Pontiac Enthusiast, Mustang Enthusiast, Mopar Enthusiast and Chevy Enthusiast are no longer available in their current magazine format. Since we want to fully honor the number of issues left on your subscription to any of the titles mentioned above, you will automatically receive the Amos Auto Enthusiast magazine for the remainder of your current subscription(s).
Amos Auto Enthusiast is replacing all of our other automotive magazines as well-essentially combining all seven titles into one."
The letter goes on explaining how they will be including all of the separate issues into one larger magazine.
If you are a true car enthusiast this move can be seen as a positive because it gives coverage to all of the cars listed above. However if you are just a Mustang fan this is disappointing news as the number of articles and specialty advertising will no longer be available.
Again it is a sign of the times and Amos Publishing did what they had to do to stay in business.
