He gapped the points, correctly, then had to work some magic on the spark plugs. I'll let him go into detail on the..cough cough..electrics. |

Thats funny. Thanks, it was no problem. I cant wait to really get into it! Do some electrical work and the GT-40 engine swap. Has anyone here swapped out a 289 for a 302 in a 60`s stang? Any problems? |

Put simply, I filed and adjusted the points, checked for current to the coil, checked for fire we were okay. I think there was too much gap and wasnt allowing the points to close completely and from cranking on it like that fouled\flooded out the plugs. So I had to swap out a couple plugs and crank it at WOT to clear it out and she started right up. Not to mention the choke was not hooked up\stuck on and the idle was set at the fast idle cam. So that was adjusted and then the idle and mixture were adjusted. Now she sounds like a V8! \ I would like to use this as a tech day vehicle for the engine swap. We should set a date sometime in September. |
