One story I heard is that its all in how you present the data. If he is using 85% Ethanol and 15% gas and for simplicity say he gets 30 mpg traveling 300 miles. He used 10 gallons of "fuel", 8.5 gallons being Ethanol and 1.5 gallons being gas. Therefore in that 300 miles he really only used 1.5 gallons of gas and got 200 mpg on gas.
If that's true then my buddy's diesel F-250 gets infinite miles per gallon on gas...but it still costs him almost $200 to fill it up.
