It’s been reported that legendary AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson purchased the first Stage 2 model.
Ford Motor Company and Petty’s Garage have announced they plan to build a limited-edition run of 627-horsepower Mustang GTs. The cars, which will be made available at Ford dealerships, were inspired by the Petty’s Garage custom Mustang GT featured at last year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We received a tremendous amount of positive feedback about our Petty’s Garage Mustang GT displayed at the SEMA show,” said Jeff Whaley, Petty’s Garage COO. “With so much interest, we began to explore the possibility of building a limited run of the Petty’s Garage Mustang GT.”
In all, Ford plans to offer two different versions of the Petty’s Garage Mustang GT. A Stage 1 version will be limited to 100 units. Those looking for something extra can opt for the even more exclusive Stage 2 model which will be limited to 43 units.
Stage 1 Model
The Stage 1 model will feature numerous modifications including a custom Petty’s Garage front fascia as well as a modified rear fascia featuring a center-exit exhaust. It will also feature a prominently showcased race-inspired spoiler.
Interior modifications will include custom embroidered head restraints, custom floor mats, as well as Richard Petty’s own signature on the dashboard.
As for performance upgrades, the Stage 1 will feature a Ford Racing/ROUSH Supercharger, cold air intake, a custom engine calibration, and a MagnaFlow exhaust system fitted to the Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter engine. The end result is a Mustang capable of outputting 627 ponies. That power will makes its way to the pavement thanks to custom 20-inch Petty’s Garage HRE FlowForm wheels matched with Continental tires.
Ford says the Stage 1 Mustang GT can be ordered in any color from the standard 2015 lineup. All unique bodywork will be painted to match in-house at Petty’s Garage.
Stage 2 Model
The more exclusive Stage 2 Petty’s Garage Mustang GT will feature all the upgrades and modifications found on the Stage 1. In addition, it will receive a Petty’s Garage Wilwood big brake upgrade and a complete Petty’s Garage custom two-tone paint job. The Stage 2 will also feature upgraded Petty’s Garage HRE three-piece forged-aluminum wheels.
It’s been reported that legendary AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson purchased the first Stage 2 model. “This Mustang has just taken my breath away,” said Johnson, lead singer for AC/DC. “It really is one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. I didn’t have an American car, but I do now!”
Custom Paint Fit for ‘The King’
One of the unique features of the Stage 2 Petty’s Garage Mustang GT is its custom two-tone paint job. Ford says it will be identical to the 2014 SEMA Show car. Petty’s Garage was able to create this one-of-a-kind color by using crushed-and-tumbled glass combined with the iconic Petty Blue paint on the lower half of the car. A custom tri-coat pearlescent blend of Ford Tuxedo Black will be featured on the upper half of the Stage 2 Mustang. Best of all, “The King’s” legendary No. 43 is ghosted into the paint on the fastback Mustang GT’s hood and C-pillar.
Pricing and Availability
In all, the Petty’s Garage Stage 1 Mustang has an MSRP of $62,210 and is limited to 100 units. The Stage 2 Mustang has an MSRP of $92,210 and is limited to 43 total units. Orders for this limited-edition Mustang GT can be placed at any Ford dealership on a first-come, first-served basis. The cars will be made available later this year.
Ford says all of the car’s powertrain modifications are covered by a Ford Racing/Roush Performance parts limited warranty; Petty’s Garage components and installation carry a 36-month, 36,000-mile warranty from Petty’s Garage.
