ok...so i got my new headlights but the bulbs seem quite dim for a new set of headlights. I want to upgrade the bulbs without getting all blue, purple, green ...yo-ish...ugly etc.. is there a slight bulb upgrade that wont put me in the yo class and still be just a bit brighter?? thanx

In my fox I put SilverStar Ultra High Performance Headlight Bulbs and IMHO they work like a champ and the light is white.

Thanks for the tips on the upgraded light bulbs. When I changed out my headlights to the newer styled headlights I was hoping for an increase in lighting performance. Unfortunately that is not the case and I believe that I may be looking into these Sylvania 9700 Ultra bulbs. I'm not happy with my low beams and the high beams seem to give out as much light as I would expect from my low beans.

same thing i was thinking with my brand new headlights.Just not as bright and not to my liking. They look wonderful though. My fog lenses are terrible too. Once I get them changed out along with these new bulbs the light should be great.

When I ordered them from a local supplier of custom parts I was under the impression that the lights would be so much more effective than the standard lights that came with the car. Granted the original lights were shot as the cloudiness around them wasn't on the outside of the lens cover but actually inside the lens.

But I have not been happy with the performance of the bulbs that came with my new lights so I guess that this would be a good time to switch them out.

How is that new addition working out for you?

Keep us posted on how these new light bulbs work out for you. I was talking to Bob Thompson about putting these new, brighter bulbs in my headlights and he seemed to think that they wouldn't last too long. They tend to work better in stock headlights according to Bob as they burn hotter and the stock lenses tend to handle the heat better.

So I'm interested in seeing how they work for you as you have a similar headlight.

When I bought my escort used in August 2007 it already had the regular silverstars installed and they are still working! When I changed bulbs in the windstar i noticed a big difference, and thats just the regular silverstars, the ultras are much brighter I hear.

These are the lights I have now. I replaced the stock lights that came with the car because they were totally fogged on the inside of the sealed lens. These look like they project a lot of light but the regular beams are to me below average and when I run with the high beams on they appear to offer the light I would expect from my low beams. As a matter of fact, when I run with the high beams on nobody seems to notice or flash their lights at me.

I'd like to try the regular silverlight light bulbs just to see if they would make a noticeable difference.

So let me get this right: You have separate hi-beam bulb, is it the silverstar bulb as per my picture I posted? That is what I am lost over because down range "beam" of light is what you are looking for. On my solara I have a separate hi-beam and for me they will blind the schlitz out of on coming cars. So really I dunno because I am blind as a bat and where I have been working it is extremely rural area anywheres from 2-5 hours from notable populated areas and I have to drive two hours to get to the airport and I use hi-beams a lot and mostly all the wheeled traffic are fuel trucks.
