I am trying to build a 302 based street engine with plenty of power. I have AFR 185's, and a BBK SSI so far. I am hoping to purchase a short block sometime soon. I really want a X303 cam in it, but its like everyone is acting like its not possible with the big valves on AFR 185's. I know that there are pistons that will accommodate this cam. I just don't know what to look for on piston specs to let let me know the will work. Is it better just to purchase a complete short block and get a machine shop to notch the pistons during assembly?? Any info will help. Also if anyone happens to have a good short block, let me know. |

I bought the 347 short block from Ford Racing and I called them to see how big of a cam could I run. They told me well over .600 of lift. The pistons are already notched for big cams and heads. |
