Well, this is my second post so I guess I better send that membership fee. I am now fully obsessed with the purchse of a 65-68 and have concerns about drum/manual brakes.

Can properly adjusted and maintained drums (front) provide adequate braking? I do not intend to push it to the limit, but I have memories of my drums fading out and praying to stop.

Define powerful stang a little better.

I have a zippy little 65 and it has 4 wheel disc brakes...that I need to upgrade to larger rotors.

Putting front discs even on an otherwise stock powered mustang is an excellent idea and a great safety upgrade.

Sorry, guess powerful Mustang was an over statement.

I am looking, on the web, at a 67 the owner claims has 30o HP. I have not looked at, nor corfimed any information at this time. Just wanted some insight so that I don't waste my time.

My '68 has the stock 302 in it and the drums brakes stop it however it does take a long time. Probably no longer than it did in '68 but much longer than any car today. I'm going to do a disc upgrade someday.

Some people are like Slinkys. They have no purpose, but they sure bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I've got era correct disk brakes on the front on my slightly modified 302 coupe. When I step up to my 331 stroker I am going to strongly consider going to aftermarket disks up front .... and possibly in the rear as an after thought. (My target is 450hp at the flywheel)
