While working on the new engine in my 66, I noticed that the alternator and voltage regulator were very warm to the touch. The engine had not been started today. Once I noticed the heat, I immediately disconnected the battery. I checked the wiring on the alt. The black/red goes to the + post on the solenoid, the white to the regulator and the black/yellow to ground post on the engine. There is also an extra ground wire running in parrelel to the original. Any ideas as to the cause of both the alt. and voltage regulator being warm?

Steve

Yanked the alternator and voltage regulator and installed a 100 amp 1 wire....

Problem solved.
