I purchased my 2006 Mustang GT Premium in November, 2013. The car at that time had 146,300 highway miles on it. The car had been maintained and serviced but was in need of a good detailing inside and out and especially inside the engine compartment. I will post photos of the dirty, greasy engine before the detailing, photos of it after the detailing and some more recent photos of the engine with some engine dress up items. The two main detailing products I used to accomplish this transformation are from Griot's Garage, namely they're Engine Degreaser and their Engine Dressing. I also used steel wool and some small brushes to get into hard to reach places. The procedure consisted of coating the engine with Griot's Engine Degreaser and letting it soak for about 10 minutes to loosen the dirt and grease. Then I used a garden hose with a light spray to rinse off the engine degreaser, wiped it down with rags and actually started up the engine to help dry it off. After I shut off the engine, I continued to wipe off any other wet areas. I applied Croftgate Quick N Slick, a spray on paint sealant to the strut towers and other painted areas of the engine bay to brighten up and protect the painted areas. Finally I sprayed on the Griot's Engine Dressing to make the entire engine compartment shine again and look brand new. Here are the results, from nasty looking to show room new! Steve, your car looks great, better then it looked when it left the assembly line. Your car is already a Show Winner. Ed G. |
