One of our new members, Omar, aka Devil Dog, is having a good time restoring a 2001 Cobra convertible. Bob Thompson has been doing a lot of mechanical work on the car including new high performance brakes, rotors, and calipers, and new suspension work. Omar has done a nice job of cleaning the car up and just wanted to tidy up the engine compartment a bit. The engine bay was not overly dirty but the engine is oxidized and the plastic and bright work under the hood was a bit dull and dingy looking. After a thorough degreasing with Griot's Engine Cleaner, a good wipe down, and some Griot's Engine Aerosol Engine Dressing the engine bay is now spotless! We even tried a little chrome engine paint on one of the valve covers where the paint had come off and it came out great! Repainting the oxidized engine will take a lot of time to mask off the engine but the results should be worth the effort. We'll wait for spring to tackle that job unless I can borrow Bob's garage for a few hours! The first three photos are the before pictures of the engine bay. Midnight Blue MCOM Historian

Wow looks great! Not that I'm partial to black convertibles or anything... |
