I've just had my 2002 Mustang repainted and I know from experience that most body shops and painters will tell you not to wax or polish the paint right away as it takes time for the paint to seal. How long should I wait until I can polish my car, four weeks, six weeks? Ant suggestions? Midnight Blue MCOM Historian |

Thanks for the Maaco information John. I have a feeling that they will provide me with a printed version of this info when I pick up the car tomorrow. I guess patience is the key to having the paint job cure well before protecting it with a good wax to further protect the finish. I will follow their recommendations as they are the pros. After picking up my car today from Maaco I received written instructions advising not to wax or polish the car for 4-6 weeks. The manager indicated that the longer you hold off, like waiting 6 weeks, before waxing or polishing the better off you'll be because the paint is still curing. If you wax or polish before the paint has fully cured it is possible to have bubbles forming under the paint. As much as I'm tempted to polish the car for the upcoming Ford Nationals, I'll wait especially now that the are going to repaint and clear coat the hood again. The manager pointed out to me that his tech caused two small scratches in the hood when a air hose accidentally hit the hood. I'll need to bring it back for a day for them to make the repair.
