Post subject: | Flashing Headlights - Help! |
I have a 66 coupe. Lately, on the rare occasions I take it out after dark, the headlights will begin to flash at irregular intervals. It's not a fast flash, but they will be on for a second or two, then turn off for a second, then off again. This occurs every time I drive the car now. It's perplexing to me but hopefully somebody can give me a hand. I've been lurking on this forum for a while now and I know there are some very knowledgeable people here. Thanks, Kevin |

Have you tried wiggling the headlight switch? Try pushing it in just a little or out a little and see if they flicker. |

Sounds like a short somewhere in the circuit. Like blown50 said start at the switch and work your way to the headlights giggling the wires. Have someone stand and watch the lights so you know when it happens. Also see if the rear lights do it also. |

Ford headlamp switches have a thermal circuit breaker built into the headlamp circuit of the switch. Very often, the breakers get weak from age and heat. My recommendation is to just replace the switch. While the lights are lit, look at the brightness of them. If one appears very dim or very bright, check your grounds and feed wires for corrosion and rub-thru. |
