October 16, 2016 Catoctin Mountain Cruise

SUNDAY OCTOBER 16, 2016
This is the biggest cruise of the year and the perfect time to drive through the Catoctin Mountains with the scenic roads and the changing colors of the leaves.

OFFICIAL MEET SPOT: Giant Food (grocery store) parking lot located at 1700 Kingfisher Dr. Frederick, MD 21701

Meet time: 9:00 am
Depart time: 9:30 am

We will cruise through the back roads of Frederick, Thurmont, Washington County and the Catoctin Mountain roads, ending up at the Pavilion located in Cunningham State Park for a picnic.

There will be a picnic at the end of the cruise. We are asking people to bring a desert, side dishes and cash for the 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from 50/50 benefit our 3 charities, and don't forget donations for Toys for Tots.

We`re having burgers, dogs, cole slaw, potato salad, exc. If you would like a veggie burger please bring it. We`ll be more than happy to throw it on the grill for ya.

For those that would like to cruise up to the official meet spot as we've done in the past. We will meet at the Mt. Airy Pizza Hut at 8:00 am and leaving at 8:30 am prompt headed to the Frederick meet spot.

This is a family friendly event, as all MCOM events are. We expect everyone on their best behavior when driving in the cruise.

START: 1700 kingfisher Drive (Giant Food Supermarket) Parking lot

MILEAGE AT END OF EACH DIRECTION IS TO THE NEXT TURN

-Turn Right on Monocacy Blvd and stay straight. 1.3 miles

-Turn Right on route 15, 3 miles

-Turn Right on Old Frederick Road 1.5 miles

-Turn Left on Utica Road (Just over bridge) 1.1 miles

-Turn Right on Hessong Bridge Road 0.8 miles

-Stay Straight at left arrow (Do Not Follow main road to left) 1.6 miles

-Turn Right on Blacks Mill Road 1.2 miles

-Straight go over Bridge 1.5 miles

-Turn Left on Creagerstown Road (Route 550) 0.2

-Turn Right at split (Old Frederick Rd) Follow sign for Loy Station 2.5 miles

WE ARE NOT ABLE TO STOP AT THE LOY STATION PARK AS WE HAVE YEARS IN THE PAST. UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

-Cross over Rocky Ridge Rd (Route 77) Stay Straight 1.3 miles

-Turn Left on Mud College Road 2.5 miles

-Turn Left on Old Kiln Road (4-Way stop) 1.6 miles

-Turn Left on Roddy Road 0.8 miles

-Turn Right on Roddy Creek Rd (Stay right at construction of Covered Bridge) 0.4 miles

-Turn Left on Albert Staub Road (Route 806, right before Route 15) 0.3 miles

-Continue Straight (Turns into Emmitsburg Road) 0.7 miles

-Turn Right on Route 550/Church Street 0.3 miles

1ST STOP IS ON THE RIGHT AT THE SHEETZ GAS STATION
IF YOU DON’T NEED GAS, SNACKS, BATHROOM BREAK PLEASE CONTINUE 0.3 MILES TO CATOCTIN HIGH SCHOOL ON THE RIGHT. WE WILL WAIT FOR EVERYONE TO REGROUP. THERE ARE PORTA-POTTY’S AT THE HIGHSCHOOL FOR THOSE THAT DON’T NEED GAS OR SNACKS.
-Turn Right on to Church Street (Route 550) 2.8 miles

-Turn Right on Eylers Valley Flint Road 2.7 miles

-Turn Left on Eylers Valley Road (Soon becomes Hampton Valley Road) 3.5 miles

-Turn Left on Riffle Road (About 500 feet before Stop Sign) 0.5 miles

-Bare Left on Hornets Nest Road 2.8 miles

-Turn Left on Friends Creek Road (One lane bridge) 1.9 miles

-Bare right on Sunshine Trail 0.5 miles

-Turn Left on Harbaugh Road 1.9 miles

-Turn Right on Sabillasville Road 0.2 miles

-Bare Left at Fort Richie Road (Just past Big Blue Transmission shop) 0.4 miles

-Turn Left on Skunk Hollow Road 1.2 miles

-Turn Right on Buck Lantz Road 0.3 miles

-Turn Left on Raven Rock Road (Route 491) 2.9 miles

-Turn Left on Hells Delight Road 0.7 miles

-Turn Right on Quirauk School Road 1.8 miles

-Turn Left on Foxville Road 6.2 miles

-Turn Right on Route 15 South 0.6 miles

-Turn Right into Cunningham State Park, Pass the booth at entrance bare left and go to end of the driveway to the last parking lot. Pavilion is where we are having picnic.
