i 'm trying to arrange a winter driving event for this winter at the Cal Ripkin stadium. to teach ppl how to drive in snow. i think the stadium parking lot would be perfect for this. i'm going to talk to Ford, AAA, have MCOM , Mars Supermarket, Vaughn Gittin, Cal Ripkin , MVA MCA. . the more the better. i think it would be great for the club. have to type some kind letter stating what we want to do. and donating to maybe to Cal Ripkin foundation for kids and some other charities. i need some feed back and ideas about this. since not much goes on during the winter. |

Getting a little movement. i went to AAA in Bel Air today. got a phone number to call tomorrow. I stopped at Outback in Bel Air to see what they might do as for food wise. call tomorrow. i stopped at the Ripkin Office and got directed to the Aberdeen Police Dept since they control the parking lot and got an officers name to call tomorrow. everyone so far thought it was a fantastic idea what i have in mind. need to get in touch with the Md State police . Deb's going to talk to the President of her bank where she works. need to talk to Harford Co. sherriff Dept. my step son going to get me a contact at Mars. if anyone has or knows contacts for any of these above please let me know. going to need help with this. i'm also going to talk to my insurance agent at Nationwide to see if they want to get involved. should we charge for this and donate the proceeds to various charities or what. not sure. it will really give the club alot of coverage for this event.like working on the Van the club worked on. also going to talk with Vaughn Gittin, and try to get Bob to call Brian at Motor week to get coverage with them. we have time before winter sets in. i also contacted John Clor to see what Ford can do for us. i need a general letter written up that i can send and show to every organaztions envolved . need help with that. Thanks everyone. we have enough people in the club who know people out there. also get sweatshirts printed with logos of everyone involved on the back. |

Hey Dan- I'm a little unclear on how your going to teach people how to drive in the snow.. Are you waiting for a snow event? Are you going to improvise? Are people going to be in their own cars? Are people going to be a passenger in another's car? Lot's of questions to get cleared up. I know your just starting to get this put together. I'm just asking because this could be a big insurance issue for the club. If MCOM is sponsoring it, would we be responsible if something were to happen? Just want to make sure we have all our bases covered. |

Yes it would be a snow event. i called my insurance agent and have to talk to him tomorrow. . first i have to get the ok from the Aberdeen police for use of parking lot. then i can get started. i'm hoping i can get Ford to donate cars which they do for events. and it will be a controlled event. Paul taught drivers ed and that will help us. going to contact the Md State police, Harford co Sherriff's . i need alot of input and help getting this started. not sure how the insurance will come into play. i have to talk to alot of people about this event. |

That would be hard to plan if you want to do it with snow on the ground. Besides, Im not taking my car anywhere near the white stuff. |

I think it's a good thought, just not for us. If it were an outside training facility that is prepared to train properly, then it would be something to consider. We as a club do not have enough resources to do this. An alternative would be to contact some local road race courses that offer a one day training event. This would entail a good bit of expense on the participants part, but would be less expensive than repairing a vehicl you have wrecked in a parking lot covered with ice. Not to mention the liability to the club if someone were to get injured. Like I said , you mean well Dan, and I appreciate that...but I don't think it is a good idea. |
