Back in July at the club meeting at Glory Days in Towson we all had a lively discussion as to whether Susan should paint her black wheels red or leave black or leave black with a red stripe. The club even took a vote on the matter! ![]() Well Susan went ahead with her vision for R2 and had the wheels powder coated red and it definitely sets the car apart. It just goes well with the black paint and red vinyl graphics and striping. ![]() While detailing her car earlier this week several of my neighbors came over to look at the car and everyone commented positively about the red rims. And these are not car enthusiasts! ![]() After I cleaned and polished the wheels and dressed up the tires the car looks like a show car. Here are some photos of the freshly detailed R2 with its distinctive red wheels. Midnight Blue MCOM Treasurer-Historian

Wow Steve, you really cleaned that car up! Red wheels aren't for everyone but the way I see things, if Susan likes them then it doesn't matter what anyones opinion is about them. Congrats Susan on being an individual in a sea of copycats. Thats why I like my car to be different too! ![]() |

That's what is so great about the Mustang platform James, it is easy to personalize the car to suit your own tastes and style and make it as individual as you want. I also detailed the engine too as it was pretty grimy but when it was done it looks brand new again! ![]() I'll post some of the engine and interior pictures here and than again in the detailing section of the forum where I can better explain exactly what I did to the car. Here are the "before" pictures of the engine compartment. Midnight Blue MCOM Treasurer-Historian

Thanks guys! ![]() At least I didn't have to deal with porcupine scratches on the interior this time! LOL! ![]() I believe it is time to start advertising my services in the Stampede now that I'm feeling better. I have the contractors Ford F250 Dually Pick Up Truck to do next week and another club member, John Tergung who has a really nice 1973 Mustang Convertible, wants me to detail his wife's car before the weather gets too cold. This has been an interesting spring and summer for me as I was able to detail and or restore several cars. I still work on my car to keep it looking sharp and I detailed my daughters 2010 Mini Cooper S while she was on vacation in Las Vegas. I still need to detail Barbara's 2011 Hyundai Sonata in the next couple of weeks to prepare it for the winter. And if I sell my car I'll need to detail my "new" car too. I'm thinking of offering specific detailing too like an engine compartment detail or an interior detail or an exterior detail in addition to the overall detailing which takes me two days. Susan has already asked me to redo her car again in the spring and most cars can hold up well for at least six months if they are treated with a Paint Sealant, which can last as long as a year if you wash it and spray wax or touch it up a bit. Even if someone is looking to sell or trade in their cars it is a worthwhile investment as you will receive a higher trade in value for your car. Classic Detailing by Steve done in the USA! ![]() Midnight Blue MCOM Treasurer-Historian |

Wow! Thanks James. Actually this works out good for you because it is important to treat those new stripes with a Paint Sealant to keep the vinyl moist and nourished. If not properly treated the stripes dry out and crack. The key to getting Susan's car and paint so shiny was the use of the clay bar which removes the surface dirt that washing cannot remove. Otherwise you are just waxing the dirt into the paint. We can make you car look better than new inside and out. Once the car is clay barred, polished and than sealed it is better than when you bought it from the dealer. I'll talk to you at the show about scheduling a time during the week of September 23rd. to do your car in time for the Bob Davidson Car Show. Midnight Blue MCOM Treasurer-Historian |

Actually James I have the Ford F250 Pick Up Truck to detail next week, the week of the 23rd. It is such a big truck that I might need 3 days or so to do the project. That means I wouldn't be able to do your car before the Bob Davidson Car Show on the 28th. I didn't notice that on the calendar when I replied earlier. The following week of September 30th going into October is clear right now. That still gets your car done for the NVMC Show and the October Catoctin Mountain Cruise and any other car shows being held in October. I'll bring my calendar with me to the H&H Car Show tomorrow. Hi Everyone, And thanks for your vote of confidence! As everyone knows, I have personal "issues" with showing my cars but my supportive husband Dave and the awesome detailing work by Steve Tapper have helped me to bridge that apprehension. Both Bebe and R2 are truly pieces of my personality so I guess you can understand that my 'Stangs are more like "friends" than rides. Bebe is "older" but still has a few moves at the drag strip. I had an image for what I thought was the perfect looking daily driver and with Bob's expert installations and Steve's handiwork, Pete's '05 was transformed into RSTANG2. She will be at Bob Davidson with a few more "personal touches" - gotta surprise Bob and Steve with something all my own! Steve did a fabulous job - I highly recommend his skill and Bob is second to none when it comes to Mustangs. I think we all agree that in MCOM, our 'Stangs are a lifestyle and trophy or not, they make our day! |

Hi James, Jim and Bella-Mare, Thank you so much for complimenting R2! You wouldn't believe the flack I caught for wanting her wheel powder coated Torch Red. Ever since, it doesn't matter where I go, she attracts attention; 4x this week alone, someone stops to look at her and ask if they could take pictures! Of course, I have no problem with that. At Bob Davidson, this guy comes up to me and states that he is from Ford Social and wanted to know if he could photograph R2 for the website. Go for it; right? I didn't take him seriously but in November, I received an email asking for my permission and release to have R2's picture appear on the website. I did and sure enough, 2 weeks later I received a link to her photo! While the "look" is just my preference, I had no idea it has become a pattern characteristic of the 2010 (an later) Laguna Seca models. You would be surprised at how often people ask me if she's a GT, a California Special, a Laguna Seca or a Boss; but alas, she's just my daily driver - and next to my husband, my best friend. |

You had the vision and the internal fortitude to make this car into something very unique and different Susan. You had a nice platform to start with as Pete had added some nice touches to the car but the creative use of the bright red vinyl with the distinctive R2 lettering and the red powder coated wheels really set off the and accented the exterior styling to make this a very special car. With Bob's mechanical upgrades and my detailing the car to show of it's attributes it is no wonder that R2 has become so popular, even for a daily driver. ![]() The Red Baron MCOM Treasurer-Historian |
