Post subject:  What to use? Need to rebuild my boats engine cover...
I've got the wood structure rebuild worked out, but I'm drawing a blank as to what to do to replace the heat insulation inside the cover. The stuff that is there tears appart when you remove it so it won't be able to be reused.

I'm thinking Dynamat, but I don't know if that is usable near or in an engine compartment...

Ideas?

Your best bet would be to go to a Marine Supply store to see what kind of insulation material they have that would suit your purpose.

Although auto supply insulation material probably would work its better to find something designed to work in a Marine environment.

I've never needed to look up this kind of thing.. so. :confused2:

Hard board material is an option, but I am hoping to not have to deal with corners and round bends that are in the cover design. I tried to save the old, but it tore up in the diss-assembly.

Was hoping that with all the car work we have done someone came up with an alternate to the under the hood pad for insulation from heat and sound.

Anyone know if Dynamat is spec'd out for this sort of thing?
