Ever since the Ecoboost engines were first developed and placed in Lincoln cars and SUV's, there were rumors that this would be a perfect engine for future Mustangs.
Even though Ford upped the ante with their new 305HP V-6 engine in the 2011 base Mustang it still is no match for the higher torque Ecoboost engine.
I believe that the V-6 in the 2011 Mustang is putting out about 280 lb. of torque and quite a jump from the previous V-6 engine it replaces. Still it is no match for the Ecoboost's 355 lb. of torque engine.
The Ecoboost engine will still give the Mustang all of the performance their owners want yet still maintain a high CAFE rating that Ford needs to comply with tightening gov't fuel requirements.
