NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
Tony Schumacher, Matt Hagan, Greg Anderson and LT Tonglet were winners Sunday in the O'Reilly Super Start Batteries Nationals, near Dallas. It was the third of six championship Countdown events.
In Top Fuel, Schumacher won for the fifth time this year. He powered to a 3.838 second, 320.43 mph win over Shawn Langdon's 3.908, 298.67 mph. Larry Dixon tops Cory McClenathan by 79 points.
In Funny Car, Hagan's Dodge Charger went 4.155, 294.63 mph to best (RFC) John Force's 4.491, 203.74 mph in a Ford Mustang. Jack Beckman qualified seventh in the Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger and lost in the second round. Force leads Hagan by 25 points.
In Pro Stock, Anderson's Pontiac GXP clocked 6.585, 209.39 mph to (RFC) Mike Edwards' 6.612, 208.46 mph in a GXP. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified 10th in the Valvoline Chevrolet Cobalt and lost in round two. Edwards' margin over Anderson is just 16 points.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, rookie Tonglet won with a 6.972, 187.94 mph pass on a Suzuki as Andrew Hines turned on the red light on his Harley. Hines continues to lead Tonglet by 44 points.
