NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
At the last Nationals before the Countdown begins, Larry Dixon, Bob Bode, (RFC) Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Andrew Hines were the pro class winners in Brainerd, Minn.
In Top Fuel, Dixon won for the ninth time this season. He ran 3.786 seconds, 312.28 mph to defeat Cory McClenathan's 3.810, 314.17 mph. Dixon finished the regular season 280 points ahead of Cory Mac.
In Funny Car, Bode got his first career pro win. His Chevrolet Impala clocked 4.248, 253.66 mph to best Jack Beckman's Freightliner Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger, 8.338, 86.33 mph. Beckman qualified sixth. (RFC) John Force finished one point ahead of (RFC) Robert Hight.
In Pro Stock, Coughlin's Chevrolet Cobalt went 6.614, 208.04 mph to beat (RFC) Shane Gray, who left the starting line too soon in his Pontiac GXP. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified fifth in the Valvoline Cobalt and lost in the first round. (RFC) Mike Edwards' margin over (RFC) Allen Johnson was 328 points.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Hines' Harley-Davidson had a 6.941, 191.00 mph lap to defeat Jim Underdahl's 7.012, 188.52 mph on a Suzuki. Hines' margin over (RFC) Hector Arana was 13 points. However, all top-10 points now reset, with the leaders having a 30-point margin over second place.
