NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
Ron Capps, (RFC) Antron Brown, (RFC) Allen Johnson and Eddie Krawiec were the pro class winners in Sunday's Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway, near Denver.
In Funny Car, Capps won for the fifth time this season in a Dodge Charger. He went 4.187 seconds, 297.22 mph vs. (RFC) Ashley Force Hood's 4.231, 296.96 in a Ford Mustang. Capps and Hood are tied for the championship lead. Jack Beckman qualified fourth in the Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger and lost in the semifinals.
In Top Fuel, Brown ran 3.944, 295.21 mph as Doug Kalitta broke and clocked only 11.363, 43.13 mph. Brown is 116 points up on Larry Dixon.
In Pro Stock, Johnson won on a holeshot, 7.004, 195.87 mph in a Dodge Stratus vs. Jason Line's 7.001, 195.76 mph in a Pontiac GXP. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified third in the Valvoline Chevrolet Cobalt but lost in the first round. (RFC) Jeg Coughlin Jr. is 83 points clear of (RFC) Mike Edwards.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Krawiec's 7.450, 175.62 mph was good enough as Harley teammate Andrew Hines' turned on the red light. Krawiec tops Hines by 88 points.
