NHRA Powerade Drag Racing Series
Tony Schumacher, Robert Hight, Dave Connolly and Matt Guidera were the pro class winners in Sunday's Fram-Autolite Nationals in Sonoma, Calif.
In Top Fuel, Schumacher's Army car powered to a 3.886 second, 307.93 mph 1,000-foot win over (RFC) Hillary Will's 3.988, 306.19 mph. Schumacher is 396 points up on Antron Brown.
In Funny Car, Hight's Ford Mustang clocked 4.163, 296.50 mph at 1,000 feet to best Gary Densham's 4.222, 289.14 mph in a Chevrolet Impala. Ashley Force took her first career pole. Jack Beckman qualified 13th in the Valvoline Dodge Charger and lost in the second round. (RFC) Tim Wilkerson is 149 points ahead of Hight.
In Pro Stock, Connolly's Chevrolet Cobalt went 6.628, 207.69 mph at the quarter-mile for a holeshot win over Jeg Coughlin Jr.'s 6.627, 207.24 mph in a Cobalt. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified 11th in the Valvoline Cobalt and lost in the first round. Greg Anderson leads Jason Line by 106 points.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Guidera's Buell also won on a holeshot, going 7.054, 185.74 mph in the quarter-mile to Andrew Hines' 7.026, 187.34 mph on a Harley. Karen Stoffer got her first No. 1 qualifying effort. Hines has a 76-point edge over Matt Smith.
