I have a leak in my driver side rear tire. I was hoping to get it patched today, but, as usual, nothing can seem to work out good for me lately....Of course it's to close to the sidewall. So now I'm in need of some new tires.

2-Questions...

1. Should I just replace the two rear tires and keep my two Pirelli's up front (each have about 50% life left)? Or should I replace all 4 with new tires.

2. Does anyone have any feedback or reviews on Nitto 555 tires? I'm considering a pair or set of 4 as the replacement tires. And yes, I thought about DR's for the rear, but rain would be a major issue, even though it's not a daily driver.

I used to run Nitto 555 on my 65.

I thought I was so smart...cheap performance tire oh yeah....
After pulling myself out of the wreckage from driving it under a tractor trailer because they absolutely suck in slightly slippery conditions...I decided to spend a little more on my next pair of tires.

If it's not a car you will be driving in the colder weather when there is precipitation and temps hovering at 32 you might have a better experience since they seemed reasonable in perfectly dry warm/hot days

My experiences...

Nittos lasted the longest but had traction issues, hence the amount of silica used in the rubber formulation.

Hankooks, Ok but your gambling. You may have a good tire that will balance and give you decent performance, you may have a bad tire that won't balance and wears unevenly. Lasts long with good traction if you get a good tire.

Goodyears, forget it, dryrot and uneven wearing along with high prices. Fast wearing...

Dunlops, premature dryrot and sub performance. Dunlop will not pro-rate their tires for the mileage warranty...That was a fun issue to deal with...

Pirellis, all around decent tire for the money...

Kumho's...ah yes, a low budget tire. Another gamble, when these fail, they explode!!! I thank the Lord everyday after having one of these blow out on I-95!!!

BF Goodrich, great traction, fast wearing, high rubber compound with low amount of silica. My favorite out of the bunch.
