NHRA Powerade Drag Racing Series
In a historic Funny Car final round, Ashley Force beat father John in Sunday's Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals, in Commerce, Ga. In her third consecutive final, Ashley's Mustang powered to a 4.837 second, 320.36 mph win as John's car struck the tires at the start and went just 11.223, 85.97 mph. It was John's 500th race. Jack Beckman qualified 13th in the Valvoline Dodge Charger but lost in the first round. Ashley is 59 points ahead of Tim Wilkerson.
In Top Fuel, Antron Brown, also in his third straight finals, got his second win. He won on a holeshot against Tony Schumacher, 4.537, 325.14 mph vs. 4.521, 329.58 mph. Schumacher is 26 points up on Brown.
In Pro Stock, Mike Edwards' Pontiac GXP edged Jason Line's GXP, 6.680, 206.20 mph to 6.680, 206.92 mph. Ron Krisher qualified on the pole in the Valvoline Chevrolet Cobalt, his first No. 1 run in five years. He lost in the second round. Line is 24 points ahead of Jeg Coughlin.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Andrew Hines' Harley-Davidson clocked 6.946, 191.40 mph to defeat Chip Ellis' 6.958, 190.70 mph on a Suzuki. Hines has a 25-point edge over Matt Guidera.
