NHRA Powerade Drag Racing Series
Biker-turned-dragster Antron Brown got his first Top Fuel victory in Sunday's O'Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park. Brown powered to a 4.605 second, 320.28 mph win over Larry Dixon's 4.621, 309.06 mph. Richard Hogan is now co-crew chief with Jon Oberhofer on Doug Kalitta's car. Tony Schumacher is eight points up on Dixon.
In Funny Car, Del Worsham's Checker Schuck's Kragen Chevrolet Impala ran 4.933, 316.60 mph to beat Ashley Force's Ford Mustang, 4.971, 302.62 mph. Jack Beckman qualified eighth in the Valvoline Dodge Charger but lost in the first round. Robert Hight and Melanie Troxel didn't qualify. Cruz Pedregon is 11 points ahead of Beckman.
In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson's Summit Pontiac GXP went 6.692, 207.37 mph to defeat Kurt Johnson's Chevy Cobalt, 13.425, 64.01 mph. Ron Krisher qualified third in the Valvoline Cobalt but lost in the first round. Anderson has a three-point margin over Jeg Coughlin.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Matt Smith's Buell clocked 7.060, 187.76 mph to take out Matt Guidera's Buell, 7.140, 185.03 mph. Guidera is 17 points ahead of Smith.
