NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
Jack Beckman, (RFC) Antron Brown, (RFC) Jason Line and LE Tonglet were the pro class winners in Sunday's Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals, near Atlanta.
In Funny Car, Beckman won for the second time this season in the Valvoline/Aaron's Dodge Charger. He ran 4.111 seconds, 311.05 mph to defeat (RFC) Mike Neff's 4.119, 305.49 mph in a Ford Mustang. Beckman qualified eighth. He trails Neff by 20 points.
In Top Fuel, Brown clocked 3.856, 318.69 mph to best Tony Schumacher's 3.905, 315.86 mph. Spencer Massey got his first pole in the Valvoline NextGen dragster and lost in the semifinals. Del Worsham leads Brown by 70 points. (RFC) John Force tied Warren Johnson for most career NHRA poles, 138.
In Pro Stock, Line's Pontiac GXP took out teammate Greg Anderson, 6.600, 208.42 mph vs. 6.610, 208.33 mph. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified sixth in the Valvoline GXP and lost in round one. Line is 50 points clear of Anderson.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Tonglet beat (RFC) Karen Stouffer in a battle of Suzukis, 6.924, 191.62 mph vs. 6.970, 192.30 mph. Stouffer has a 15-point advantage over Andrew Hines.
