Sunday was NHRA's second try at four-wide competition and Jack Beckman, Del Worsham and Greg Anderson emerged as the pro winners in the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Four-Wide Nationals near Charlotte.
In Funny Car, Beckman -- who qualified fifth in the Valvoline/Aaron's Dodge Charger -- went 4.120 seconds, 309.63 mph to best Bob Tasca III's 4.137, 311.05 in a Ford Mustang. (RFC) Tim Wilkerson in a Ford Mustang and Jim Head also made the finals. (RFC) Robert Hight in a Ford Mustang is 49 points ahead of (RFC) Mike Neff in a Ford Mustang.
In Top Fuel, Del Worsham clocked 3.813, 319.82 to defeat teammate Larry Dixon's 3.821, 319.90 mph. Spencer Massey and Shawn Langdon were the other finalists. Worsham is 77 points clear of Dixon.
In Pro Stock, Anderson's Pontiac GXP had a 6.556, 211.39 mph lap to beat (RFC) Greg Stanfield's 6.559, 211.10 mph in a GXP. Dave Connolly and Vincent Nobile also made the finals. Anderson is three points up on (RFC) Jason Line. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified eighth in the Valvoline Pontiac GXP and lost in the semifinals.
