Heading to the New York Auto Show? If so, you'll have to check out the debut of the 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Mustang. The car will be on display at the annual auto show this April. According to reports, the powerful "snake", which starts its life as a GT500, will produce up to 800 hp via an optional Shelby/Kenne Bell tune. Oh yea, that's what I'm talking about! Standard tune will produce 750 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.
Some highlights of the 2012 Super Snake Mustang:
* Ford Racing handling pack including dynamic adjustable dampers, lowering springs, tuned stabilizer bars and front strut tower brace
* Optional Shelby/Eibach handling pack
* Six-speed manual transmission with a 3.73:1 rear-axle ratio and short-throw shifter
* Borla exhaust system
* Shelby-designed Alcoa 20-inch wheels
* Forged Shelby/Baer brakes with six-piston calipers and cross-drilled, vented rotors
* Front-brake cooling ducts and behind-the-door side scoops
* Unique fiberglass hood with the signature Shelby design and hood pins
* Shelby classic Super Snake stripes in either matte black or matte white
* Super Snake vehicle badges and an embroidered interior
According to Shelby American, the post-title package will become available in May. The total package, including the donor GT500 Mustang, will likely cost less than $100,000.
