NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
NHRA's 60th anniversary season opened with Sunday's Kragen O'Reilly Auto Parts Winternationls at Pomona, and Morgan Lucas, (RFC) Robert Hight and (RFC) Jason Line were the pro class winners.
In Top Fuel, Lucas ran 3.835 seconds, 316.38 mph to beat his former high school classmate, Shawn Langdon's, 4.047, 313.73 mph. Larry Dixon set a national record pass of 3.770, 324.98 mph in qualifying.
In Funny Car, (RFC) Hight's Ford Mustang powered to a 4.056, 312.71 holeshot mph win over (Runner up 2010) Matt Hagan's 4.023, 310.20 mph in a Dodge Charger. Jack Beckman qualified ninth in the Valvoline/Aarons Dodge but lost in the first round.
In Pro Stock, Line's Pontiac GXP went 6.529, 211.89 mph to beat (RFC) Greg Stanfield's 6.595, 210.70 mph in a GXP. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified fourth in the Valvoline Chevrolet Cobalt and lost in the second round.
