Today Ford Motor Co. released updated horsepower figures for its upcoming 2012 Boss 302 Mustang. According to the company, the car will officially produce an impressive 444 horsepower. That'll put a smile on your face.
In addition to a modified 5.0L V8 engine with respectable power, the 2012 Boss 302 Mustang will feature an optional TracKey which can utilize a dual action PCM to unleash the full race mode in the Boss Mustang's computer. Ford says this consists of adjusting 200 engine mapping functions resulting in increased low end torque, dual stage launch control, and lumpy idle. It's important to note no aftermarket chips or permanent modifications are made when TracKey is used. It doesn't void the car's warranty, and owners can switch back to the tamer, normal key, when they wish. The TracKey will be available at local Ford dealerships, with pricing yet to be released.
Ford will also give all Boss owners a complimentary "Track Attack" day at Miller Motorsports Park. Owners need only to show up. Miller Motorsports Park will offer up a variety of Mustang GTs and Boss Mustangs for your driving pleasure.
No doubt about it, the new Boss 302 Mustang has many folks waiting in anticipation. Black key is for standard street racer. Red key is for competition-ready track car. I'm reminded of The Matrix. Red pill or blue pill? I'll take the red key please. Order banks open on Monday, 11/15.
