NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
Sunday's Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol wrapped with Tony Schumacher, (RFC) John Force and (RFC) Mike Edwards in the winner's circle.
In Top Fuel, Schumacher went around Brandon Bernstein with a 3.982 second, 306.53 mph run. Bernstein's engine went into flames and he ran 4.054, 272.56 mph. Larry Dixon leads Schumacher by 123 points.
In Funny Car, Force's Ford Mustang won easily with a 4.217, 285.59 mph pass as (RFC) Tim Wilkerson's Mustang broke during the launch and ended up with a 12.365, 31.80 lap. Force, with his 130th career win, tops (RFC) Robert Hight by 58 points. Jack Beckman qualified fifth in the Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger and lost in round two.
In Pro Stock, Edwards won again with a casual 7.570, 135.16 mph run as (RFC) Rickie Jones went red on the starting line. Both drove Pontiac GXPs. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified fourth in the Valvoline Chevrolet Cobalt and lost in round two. Edwards is a massive 452 points up on (RFC) Allen Johnson.
