NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series
In Sunday night's rain-delayed United Association Route 66 Nationals, near Chicago, Larry Dixon, Matt Hagan, (RFC) Mike Edwards and LE Tongley were the pro winners.
In Top Fuel, Dixon outpaced Tony Schumacher, 3.773 seconds, 321.65 mph to 3.823, 323.12 mph.
In Funny Car, Hagan's Dodge Charger powered to a 4.035, 312.78 mph (setting a new National record ET) win over (RFC) Robert Hight's 4.069, 311.92 mph after three straight wins in his Ford Mustang. Jack Beckman qualified sixth in the Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger and lost in the semifinals.
In Pro Stock, (RFC) Edwards continued his class domination, going 6.594, 208.49 mph vs. (RFC) Jason Line's 6.599, 209.30 mph. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified fifth in the Valvoline Chevrolet Cobalt and lost in the second round.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Tonglet got his first victory, going 6.935, 190.38 mph to (RFC) Steve Johnson's 6.966, 186.46 mph. Craig Treble qualified No. 1 on the Valvoline Suzuki and lost in the first round.
