NHRA Powerade Drag Racing Series
Sunday's O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol was delayed and interrupted by several rain storms, but (RFC) Tony Schumacher, (RFC) Melanie Troxel and Dave Connolly finally made it to the winner's circle.
In Top Fuel, Schumacher's Army car powered to a 4.555 second, 306.81 mph win over Larry Dixon's 4.958, 253.37 mph. Schumacher is 151 points clear of Antron Brown.
In Funny Car, Troxel's Dodge Charger won with a 5.066, 310.27 mph pass. Mike Neff's Ford Mustang had mechanical problems on the line and blew at half-track, so his run was 6.471, 146.21 mph. Troxel defeated Ashley Force in the second round, another first. (RFC) Tim Wilkerson is 23 points ahead of Force. Jack Beckman didn't qualify in the Valvoline Charger.
In Pro Stock, Connolly's Chevrolet Cobalt won on a holeshot, 6.731, 204.70 mph vs. Greg Stanfield's 6.717, 204.42 mph in a Pontiac GXP. Greg Anderson is two points up on Jason Line. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified seventh in the Valvoline Chevy Cobalt but lost in the semifinals.
